Dorset County Council is closing the A347 from 150m below Parley Cross to Ensbury Bridge between 2-22 March to resurface the road.
Local residents will receive letters in the next couple of weeks. The letters will include information about the closure and contact details if there are any access requirements during this time.
The road is well-used and the carriageway itself is showing wear and tear. This closure is necessary to ensure that the road can be used in the years to come. This is part of a larger plan that incorporates roads that will be used when the A338 Spur Road is resurfaced.
There will be an official diversion route and drivers will be encouraged to avoid the area if they can.
