Make-over for children’s respite home Lily's Place
Bright colour themed bedrooms and inspirational quotes have transformed the bedrooms and communal areas of Lily’s Place, the children’s respite centre operated by Diverse Abilities.
Clare Rochford, children’s team manager of the disability charity, commented, “Our team have worked hard to create an engaging, refreshed, and colourful environment for all the children visiting Lily’s Place. So far, it’s been really well received, the children love it.”
Lily’s Place provides overnight and day short breaks for children and young people aged between two and 19. It is a safe and fun place, giving parents some breathing space, time for life’s other tasks or to spend quality time with their other children.
Clare continued, “We provide a home from home atmosphere at Lily’s Place, and allow children to develop their independence, as well as social skills through interaction with a small number of other children.”
Rachel, a parent whose child attends Lily’s Place, added, “We are very dependent on Lily’s for respite, and we feel very confident about the care our daughter receives there. When lockdown came, we were fearful that Lily’s may not be able to continue operating, but we’ve just been amazed. I’d describe Lily’s as a lifeline; it provides the most incredible support for families like ours who find ourselves in a very difficult situation. I can’t find the words to say thank you enough.”
