Man arrested following knife theft in Poole
It is believed that a number of people were in Meadowbrook Produce at the time, and police are hoping they will come forward with information.
Meadowbrook Produce in Herbert Avenue was targeted by a man who picked up a set of knives and a knife sharpener at around 10.15am on Tuesday 13 January.
The man is then reported to have threatened a staff member with the knife sharpener and taken cash from the till before leaving the scene in a silver Volkswagen Golf. Damage was also reportedly caused to the store during the incident.
Following enquiries by officers, a 50-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of robbery and criminal damage. He has been released on police bail as detectives continue their investigation.
Detective Constable Niki Edwards, of BCP CID, said: “We have carried out extensive enquiries into this incident, which have resulted in a man being arrested in connection with the matter.
“We are continuing to investigate what happened and, from our enquiries, we understand there were a number of people in the area of the store around the relevant time.
“I would urge any witnesses who have not already spoken to police to please contact us.”
