Man arrested following reported strangulation incident in Westbourne
A man has been arrested following the alleged assault of a woman in Poole Road.
An incident involving an alleged assault on a woman took place outside the Romanzo restaurant in Westbourne, and police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
At around 7pm on Thursday 26 February, it was reported that a man grabbed a woman by the throat and pushed her to the ground outside the restaurant. The woman did not sustain any serious injuries.
Police confirmed that the man and woman were known to each other.
Officers attended the scene and arrested a 61-year-old Bournemouth man on suspicion of assault and intentional strangulation. He has since been released on bail while further enquiries are carried out.
Investigating officer PC Alice Harmsworth, of Bournemouth Police, said: “I am appealing for any witnesses to the incident outside the restaurant, or anyone who may have information in relation to it, to please contact us.”
