Man arrested following stabbing near Bournemouth church

Following an assault near to St Andrews Church in Kinson on Monday 20 May a man sustained suspected stab wounds.
Having received the report at 1.10pm, officers attended the scene, along with the ambulance service. Subsequently the victim in his 30s was taken to hospital for treatment to injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.
A 35-year-old man from Bournemouth was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm. He has been released on police bail while enquiries continue.
Detective constable Matthew Putt, of BCP CID, said: “A full investigation into this matter is underway, led by detectives from BCP CID, and a cordon was put in place at the scene.
“Following initial enquiries, it is believed that the victim and the arrested man are known to each other.
“I am appealing to anyone who was in the area and saw what happened to please get in touch.
“In particular, I understand there may have been a number of vehicles in a car park at the rear of the church at the time of the incident and I would ask any motorists with information to help my investigation to please contact Dorset Police.
“There will be an increased policing presence in the vicinity and officers can be approached by members of the public with information or concerns.”
