Man charged following Wimborne stabbing
An 18-year-old Poole man has been charged with attempted murder and possessing an offensive weapon in a public place.
He was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following the stabbing of a man in Wimborne on Sunday 26 February.
He appeared at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Saturday 4 March and is next due to appear at Winchester Crown Court on Thursday 30 March.
Dorset Police was called at around 9.50pm to reports a man had been stabbed at an address in the Leigh Gardens area of the town.
A man in his 50s was taken to hospital for treatment to suspected stab wounds, which were believed to be serious but not life-threatening.
Following initial enquiries, a 15-year-old boy and a 27-year-old man, both from the Wimborne area, were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and released on police bail.
A 38-year-old Wimborne woman, who as arrested on suspicion of attempting to pervert the course of justice has also been released on police bail.
An 18-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman, both from Wimborne, as well as a 35-year-old man from Fordingbridge who were all arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender remain on police bail.
Detective Inspector Dave Horn, of Dorset County CID, said: “This has been an extensive investigation as we carry out detailed enquiries into events of the evening of Sunday 26 February.
“I am continuing to appeal for anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity or who may have captured anything of relevance on home CCTV, doorbell cameras or dashcams, to please get in touch with police.
“I would also urge residents in the area to please check their gardens for anything that could have been discarded.”
