Bournemouth police officers are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information to come forward following an attempted robbery on Friday 2 May at 9.20pm in Pokesdown, Bournemouth.
A man entered One Stop on Seabourne Road and waited at the counter. A female member of staff approached the man and he demanded that she opened the till.
When she refused, he threatened the member of staff and left the store. No weapon was seen during the incident.
He is described as white, in his mid-twenties, of medium build, with fair hair, facial stubble and disfigured teeth.
He was wearing a dark grey hooded top with white horizontal strips, a red T-shirt, black trainers and black and red shorts with an emblem at the bottom of the right leg.
Detective Constable Laurence Ainley, of Bournemouth CID, said: “Fortunately nothing was taken, however, this was a very unpleasant incident for shop staff to experience.
“Following enquiries I am now able to release a CCTV image of the suspect.
“I encourage anyone who recognises him to contact me as soon as possible.
“All calls are treated in the strictest confidence.”
