Man jailed for drug offences in Bournemouth
A man caught dealing drugs in Bournemouth town centre has been jailed for three years and five months.
Mounkadir Mustapha, 25 and of Rutherwick Rise, Coulsdon, Surrey, was sentenced at Southampton Crown Court on 14 August 2017 after pleading guilty to possession with intent to supply heroin, crack cocaine and cannabis. He also admitted being concerned in the control and supply of heroin and crack cocaine.
At around 2.20pm on 11 April 2017 an off-duty police officer spotted Mustapha approaching a teenager in Old Christchurch Road near McDonalds for a suspected drugs deal. The officer knew Mustapha as he had stopped and searched him previously.
At 3.30pm the following day, Mustapha was suspected by a town centre worker of carrying out a drugs deal in Bournemouth gardens with another man.
The police were called and an officer attended and detained Mustapha for a drugs search, which was carried out at Bournemouth police station. A sock containing 10 wraps of cannabis was found in his boxer shorts. Mustapha was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply cannabis.
As the search continued, officers discovered another package that had been secreted internally. He withheld the package for nine days during which time he was under constant observation by police officers. He was subsequently further arrested for possession with intent to supply a class A drug and charged.
Mustapha’s mobile phone was examined and numerous texts were found relating to class A drug dealing.
Police Constable Stuart Grant, of Bournemouth central Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “Drug dealing and misuse has a huge impact on communities.
“Mustapha attempted to conceal the class A drugs for a significant period of time and this case highlights our persistence in targeting drug dealing.
“Dorset Police takes these cases extremely seriously and we will do all we can to target those who come to Dorset to deal drugs. Our message is simple – you will be caught and dealt with robustly by the court.”
