A man has been jailed for six years for robbing a Bournemouth pensioner.
Duane Davis, 33, of no fixed abode, was found guilty at Bournemouth Crown Court for assaulting and robbing a woman in Springbourne.
Davis, who had pleaded not guilty, was sentenced on Wednesday 8 April 2015 at the same court.
The court heard police were called to Washington Avenue in the afternoon of Friday 18 July 2014 to reports of a robbery.
Davis had approached the victim, who was aided by two walking sticks, near to her home and offered to carry her shopping bags. On reaching her door he pushed her to the ground and stole her purse.
As a result of the fall the victim suffered a serious injury to her hip which required hospital treatment.
Detective Constable James Taylor, of Bournemouth CID, said: “This was a vicious attack which left the victim with a serious injury and in severe shock.
“The sentence issued today sends out a very clear message that this sort of crime will not be tolerated in Dorset. You will be caught and brought to justice.”
