A man was sentenced to nine years in prison after a knife attack in Bournemouth; a further two years for being concerned in the supply of class A drugs and one year for dangerous driving.
Christopher Jordan Henry-Jowitt, aged 21, and of no fixed abode, who admitted a knife attack in Bournemouth has been jailed for 12 years.
He was sentenced to a total of nine years in prison at Bournemouth Crown Court on 21 July after admitting inflicting grievous bodily harm, robbery and possessing an offensive weapon.
He also received a further jail term of two years for being concerned in the supply of class A drugs and one year for an unrelated dangerous driving matter in Sheffield.
At around 5.15pm on 30 September 2016 the victim, a 23-year-old man from Bournemouth, got into a car with Henry-Jowitt in Littledown. The defendant was known to the victim as a drug dealer and he had called him to arrange to buy some heroin. The car drove a short distance and then stopped in Regent Drive.
Henry-Jowitt began a conversation about watches and asked the victim to take his off to show it to him. When he refused Henry-Jowitt tried to take the watch by force and took out a hunting-type knife before stabbing the victim in the chest and abdomen.
There was a struggle in the car, which spilt out onto the road.
The victim sustained a further two stab wounds to his face, lacerations to his upper arm and chest and a deep laceration to his forearm but was unable to recall how he sustained the injuries. He lost consciousness at some stage during the attack.
While his attacker drove away, nearby residents came to the aid of the victim and gave first aid until a doctor arrived from a nearby surgery, followed shortly afterwards by paramedics.
A car matching the one described by witnesses was found shortly afterwards in Linwood Road in Winton.
Following enquiries supported by the Metropolitan Police and South Yorkshire Police to locate the defendant, Henry-Jowitt handed himself in at Bournemouth Central police station on Friday 13 January 2017.
Detective Constable Simon Walters, of Bournemouth CID, said: “This was an extremely violent attack that left the victim with significant injuries and it was fortunate they were not even more serious.
“I hope the sentence imposed by the court sends out a message that this kind of violent offending will be dealt with robustly by police and the courts.”
