Man jailed for burglary and fraud in Bournemouth
Simon Aaron Roy Rutter, who admitted four offences of burglary and four of fraud at Poole Magistrates Court, has been sent to prison.
A man of no fixed abode who was found guilty of burglary and fraud has been sent to jail for one year.
Simon Aaron Roy Rutter, 38, and of no fixed abode, was sentenced at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Friday 28 June after admitting four offences of burglary and four charges of fraud relating to the use of a stolen bank card.
At around 1.55am on Thursday 27 June this year, officers responded to reports of a man attempting to break into Mr Simms Sweet Shop in Old Christchurch Road.
After arriving at the scene, officers carried out searches and located the defendant inside the premises.
He was subsequently arrested and charged with burglary.
Rutter was also charged with three further commercial burglaries, including at the Exeter Hotel in Upper Hinton Road on Tuesday 12 December 2023 and at The Chocolate Box Hotel on Friday 12 April 2024.
The further burglary occurred at an office building in Exeter Park Road on Friday 31 May 2024, with Rutter also admitting to using a bank card, which was stolen from the premises.
Police constable Lewis Gravett, of Bournemouth police, said: “We recognise the impact commercial burglaries have on businesses in the town and we will do all we can to identify those responsible.
“Thanks to our swift actions on the night of Thursday 27 June 2024 we were able to catch Simon Rutter in the act and then compile evidence to bring him to justice for a number of offences.”
