Man jailed for dealing drugs in Bournemouth town centre
A dealer who was twice caught supplying class A drugs in Bournemouth town centre has been jailed for a total of three years.
Michael Kevin Lagan, aged 46, was sentenced to a total of three years in prison at Bournemouth Crown Court on 1 June, after admitting four charges of possessing class A drugs with intent to supply, two offences of supplying a class A drug and acquiring, using or possessing criminal property.
At around 3.15pm on 22 March 2018 an officer from the Bournemouth Central Neighbourhood Policing Team was on a cycle patrol in plain clothes in Bournemouth Central Gardens when he saw a group of known drug users.
He observed Lagan approach the group and a subsequent search found the defendant to be in possession of nine wraps of heroin and crack cocaine.
He was arrested on suspicion of possessing class A drugs with intent to supply and was later released under investigation as police continued their enquiries.
At around 4.20pm on 26 April the same officer was on patrol in the area of Tregonwell Road, in plain clothes and an unmarked vehicle, when he saw Lagan making an exchange with a couple.
The officer followed Lagan, who returned to his home address in Tregonwell Road. A short time later he re-emerged from his house and returned to the same spot he had been seen previously, where another exchange took place with a man.
Lagan was arrested shortly afterwards outside his home address and was found to have four wraps of heroin in his pocket inside a Kinder Egg container. A further search of his property revealed two more wraps of heroin and a wrap of cocaine as well as a plastic tub containing £315 in cash.
Police Constable Stuart Grant, of the Bournemouth Central Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “We recognise the detrimental impact the supply and use of class A drugs has on our community and we are committed to doing all we can to disrupt the activity of dealers such as Lagan.
“We are also grateful to the community for any information they can provide in relation to drug related activity and will always act on their concerns.”
