Man jailed for two Bournemouth burglaries
A property in Iddesleigh Road and one in Knole Gardens were burgled by John Jones who has been sent to jail.
Bournemouth resident John Jones, 54, has been jailed for robbing local properties.
Jones was sentenced to two years and eight months in prison at Bournemouth Crown Court on Wednesday 25 January after pleading guilty to two counts of burglary.
The first incident occurred between 9.15am and 3.15pm on Saturday 8 October 2022 in Iddesleigh Road.
A DKNY watch was stolen during the incident and damage was caused to the property, which cost approximately £350 to repair.
An examination was carried out at the scene and DNA was recovered, which was later found to be a match to Jones.
During the evening of Saturday 15 October 2022, a second burglary occurred in Knole Gardens. A jewellery box and its contents were stolen, which were worth around £5,000.
A search of the property uncovered a sock that did not belong to the residents. The sock was forensically examined and provided a DNA match for Jones.
Jones was subsequently arrested in November 2022 in connection with both incidents.
Detective Constable Ian Caddy, of Dorset Police, said: “The impact that a burglary has on a victim is extremely distressing and can be long-lasting.
“We remain committed to relentlessly pursuing those who commit burglaries such as these and will do everything we can to identify those responsible.
“We hope that our investigation to bring Jones to justice will serve as a warning to others looking to commit an offence of this nature.”
