March for Men in Bournemouth to raise funds for prostate cancer
The event, organised by University Hospitals Dorset NHS Charity, takes place on Saturday 28 March along Bournemouth seafront.
University Hospitals Dorset NHS Charity is inviting local people to take part in its March for Men on Saturday 28 March. This annual event raises funds for everyone impacted by prostate cancer in Dorset.
Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men, and over 64,000 people in the UK find out they have been diagnosed with it every year. In Dorset, 1,585 people were referred to see University Hospitals Dorset’s prostate cancer teams in 2025. Sadly, around 30 per cent were diagnosed with cancer.
March for Men is all about making every step count. Crowds will walk together along Bournemouth seafront for a 5km or 10km walk or run, solo or with friends and loved ones, to support prostate cancer patients and their families.
Jim Voss, urology consultant at University Hospitals Dorset, said: “Every single day, our prostate cancer teams at University Hospitals Dorset meet patients across our community who are touched by prostate cancer. No one should have to navigate a cancer diagnosis and treatment journey alone.
“By taking part, people in our community are helping us go above and beyond for patients and their families at a time when they need it most. Let’s step out together and create a brighter future for prostate cancer patients and their loved ones across the South Coast.”
Ticket sales only cover the cost of the event, so University Hospitals Dorset NHS Charity is asking everyone to join in the spirit of going above and beyond for patients by setting their own fundraising target.
This support will help fund new state-of-the-art equipment, meaningful projects and extras that will have a huge impact on people affected by prostate cancer in our community, above and beyond what the NHS will fund. Whether it’s a gentle stroll with the family or taking on a challenge with the run club, March for Men is a chance to come together with purpose.
March for Men is sponsored once again by local businesses: Spetisbury Construction and Oak Business Services Limited.
