The Bournemouth Chamber of Trade and Commerce has kicked off their 100-year celebrations with a Rio-themed extravaganza.
They staged an extraordinary party at the BIC on 10 March. Marking 100 years since the founding of the chamber, the event captured the spirit of celebration.
In line with this year’s Olympics taking place in Rio, BCTC recreated festive South America with a variety of entertainment throughout the night. Bournemouth’s Samba Panashe Band brought a selection of drums and other percussion instruments, kicking off the celebrations with a bang. This was accompanied by Bournemouth University’s Big Band, who succeeded in adding to the evening’s carnival theme. Topping off the excellent entertainment, finalist from the X Factor 2015, Max Stone took to the stage with an upbeat performance to get the entire room in the party mood.
The BCTC were happy to welcome guests who showed off their formal attire with splashes of Rio colour. Treated to an exceptional three-course meal, guests were transported to the streets of Rio with dancing and partying into the early hours.
Peter Mathews, President of BCTC, said: “I would like to thank everyone involved in organising this special event to mark BCTC’s one hundred year anniversary. The evening was a delight from start to finish and the Rio party theme created a unique celebration that will not soon be forgotten.’’
Having formed in 1916 Bournemouth Chamber of Trade and Commerce has continued to evolve; the organisation now boasts 600 members and 1500 affiliates representing a huge proportion of Bournemouth’s businesses.
