Massive fire destroys former Dudsbury golf club near Ferndown
Around 40 firefighters fought the blaze at The Dudsbury Golf Club, Christchurch Road, Longham, on Friday night.

Dozens of firefighters were called out on Friday night to tackle a massive fire at a former golf club building on Christchurch Road, Longham.
The derelict building, the former site of Dudsbury Golf Club, was destroyed by the fire.
Firefighters were called to the scene at 6.10pm on Friday 20 June to find that the building was “well alight” and the fire was generating a huge amount of smoke. Road closures were in place and residents were advised to keep doors and windows closed.
Initially, eight fire crews and two support appliances– approximately 40 firefighters – were called to tackle the blaze using hose reels and main jets.
The blaze was put out by 10.22pm on Friday night, but two crews remained in the scene dealing with hotspots throughout Saturday 21 June. By 12noon on Saturday, Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service (DWFRS) reported that the building had been destroyed by the fire. The site was deemed safe and handed back to the owners at 4.30pm.
In a statement, DWFRS said: “The fire was extinguished using three main jets, a ground monitor, the aerial ladder platform and 10 breathing apparatus wearers.
“An investigation into the cause of the fire will continue in the coming days.”
The building was the former clubhouse for Dudsbury Golf Club Hotel and Spa, which was founded in 2006. The clubhouse building was closed at the end of January 2024, and the golf course has been shut since 1 April 2024.
