Mastermind quizzers visit Bournemouth
Some very clever people enjoyed a visit to a museum and learned more about Bournemouth with Hattie Miles.
Fifty people who have appeared on the BBC quiz show Mastermind held their annual reunion in Bournemouth recently.
The Mastermind Club has 334 members altogether and the Bournemouth group included several champions.
Activities during the September weekend included visits to the Russell-Cotes Art Gallery and Museum and two guided walks with Hattie Miles from walkingtalks. Twenty quizzers joined Hattie on the Hidden Secrets of Bournemouth walk. Among them was 1995 champion Kevin Ashman who holds the distinction of achieving Mastermind’s highest ever score of 41 points. Also there were 2017 champion Isabelle Heward and 1993 champion Gavin Fuller. The second walk took a dozen club members on Hattie’s James Bond Connections to Bournemouth and Dorset walk. Later the whole group enjoyed a slap-up dinner at the Mercure Queen’s Hotel and ended their evening with, what else, but a quiz.
Hattie said: “It was a bit daunting to take out so many very knowledgeable people and I was delighted that on both occasions I was able to tell them local Bournemouth history that they did not already know.”
