After the recent dinner meeting of the Inner Wheel Club of Ferndown, members welcomed two speakers from the Royal Bournemouth Hospital who spoke of matters of the heart.
Dr Adrian Rozkovec gave us an illustrated talk on cardiac diseases and how the appropriate cardiac intervention treatments can save lives. This was followed by the talk by Nick Morgan who spoked of the continuing care of these cardiac patients.
Within the hospital grounds, there is the Bournemouth Heart Club which provides structured exercise classes to help rehabilitation of the entire body, including special emphasis on strengthening the heart muscles.
This facility is of great benefit to those who have received cardiac intervention and also to those at risk of a heart attack. The membership does have a small joining fee and a reasonable attendance fee is requested, but there is a shortfall in the costs of running such a worthy aftercare programmes, so fundraising is necessary, and donations are welcomed.
Club president Diana Marshall then thanked the speakers for their excellent presentations and said this was to be her chosen charity for the year.
