Bournemouth company Maverick Race says 'the outdoors will wait’
Maverick Race, a Bournemouth trail running events company has donated £7,060 to Poole Hospital Charity.
In support of government advice on social distancing, Maverick Race changed their marketing slogan from ‘the outdoors awaits’ to ‘the outdoors will wait,’ which they printed on T-shirts and sold online.
Justin Bufton, the company’s director and owner, said, “We all hugely value the NHS and many of us have family working on the frontline,
“Poole Hospital Charity is close to home for me as my wife Lucy, an advance nurse practitioner in orthopaedic trauma, and sisters Kate and Hannah, both community nurses, all work in Poole Hospital.
“It was really important to us to be able to share a message with people that the outdoors will wait, and that trails and Maverick Race will still be there when this is all over.
“I’ve been blown away by the support from our running community and the response we have had. For a small company we are really proud of being able to raise this money. It is humbling to be able to put our own needs to one side and look at the bigger picture of our country’s health.”
Sara Fripp, Poole Hospital Charity manager said, “The donation will be used to maintain staff relaxation spaces, provide staff with food and hydration, and provide wash packs.”
