Aaron Nathan David, 31, of St Alban’s Crescent in Bournemouth, and Kristian Uku, 20, of no fixed abode, appeared at Bournemouth Crown Court after admitting an offence of possessing a class A drug with intent to supply.
Uku had also admitted two charges of possessing a knife or bladed article in a public place and was sentenced on 23 August 2018 to two years and 10 months in a young offenders’ institution.
David, who had also pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of a class A drug and a money laundering offence, was sentenced on 26 October 2018 and received a seven years and three months jail term.
On 21 May 2018 Uku had taken a taxi from London to Bournemouth and at around 6.25pm stopped in Cecil Avenue.
At around 6.40pm David went to the area carrying a black rucksack.
Officers approached the vehicle and David threw the rucksack into the road and ran.
He was detained after a short chase. The rucksack was found to contain around £20,000 in cash.
Uku was also located nearby and searched. He was found to have two compressed bundles of white powder strapped to his body. Uku was also found to be in possession of two knives, one in his waistband and another in his pocket.
The contents of the bundles were analysed and were confirmed to be cocaine. There was a total of just under one kilogram of the class A drug.
A search of David’s address was carried out with more than £50,000 in cash recovered and 22 wraps that were found to contain cocaine.
The total street value of all the drugs seized was estimated at £113,000.
Detective Constable Will Pearce, of the Serious Organised Crime Investigation Team, said, “Uku and David were clearly involved in an operation to supply a significant amount of class A drugs in the Bournemouth area.
“We are committed to doing all we can to disrupt the supply of class A drugs in our communities and this successful investigation has seen a large amount taken off the streets, as well two offenders given significant sentences.
“We always need information from residents in the area where drug dealing and drug related activity is taking place so we can take action against those involved in the supply chain and I would urge members of the public to contact police with any information.”
To report information concerning drug dealing or drug activity call Dorset Police on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
