Minecraft arrives at museum in Wimborne
There will be a variety of activities relating to the videogame ‘Minecraft’ on offer at the Museum of East Dorset from 21 July until 6 September.

Children are to have the chance to enter a three-dimensional world in Wimborne.
‘Minecraft Adventures’ is coming to the Museum of East Dorset as part of its summer activities programme.
From character hunts to crafty clay creations, families can dive into a pixel-powered holiday filled with creativity and exploration. Whether you’re a seasoned player or a curious newcomer, there’s something for everyone in this immersive experience.
Featured activities include a ‘Player Skin’ craft table where you can design and make your very own player character, as well as don a disguise with mask crafts. Dig for riches and hidden artefacts in the interactive Sandbox Mining dig zone and join the Mob Hunt Trail exploring the galleries in search of Minecraft mobs. At the museum’s Costume Station, you can even dress up as a creeper, Enderdragon or another blocky character and strike a pose.
As part of ‘Minecraft Adventures’, the museum’s Garden Room has been converted into a Mob Arena on occasional days throughout the summer. Grab a NERF Minecraft bow or crossbow and test your aim against the creatures of the night.
On Wednesday 13 August and Tuesday 26 August, the museum will be hosting a special Clay Activity Morning from 10.30am until 12.30pm. Join guest artist Debbie Clarke from Creative Clay For All and sculpt your own player character from clay or maybe a cuboid version of your favourite furry friend.
The Minecraft adventures and clay workshop are included free with the normal entrance price. No booking required, but early arrival is recommended.
Explore slime making and create your very own slime mix at two summer workshops. They are aimed at children aged six to 16 years old and for all abilities, including those with SEND. The price includes the workshop, a hot pizza lunch, access to the museum and other fun, hands-on activities. Booking is essential for these workshops via the museum website.
‘Minecraft Adventures’ takes place from Monday 21 July until Saturday 6 September.
