Minibus offered free by Abacus to deserving charity
Abacus, the Ferndown and Andover based vehicle hire specialist, is offering to donate a minibus from its hire fleet to a deserving regional charity.
Abacus is inviting regional charities to apply to receive the gift of the six-year-old Ford Transit 17-seat vehicle, which has been fully maintained by the company’s own workshop.
The minibus is not equipped for disability transport.
Dave Wolfenden, who founded the busy family-run hire company in 1985, says that his team will then be asked to vote for who they think that the minibus should be donated to.
“We would like to put something practical back into the society that has made our business successful over the decades,” says Dave.
“The minibus, with a year’s MOT and two-month warranty is to be offered in just a plain paint scheme so that the winning charity or community project can do their own design, it will be theirs just to drive away and use to enrich the lives of the people they support,” he added.
The company operates a total fleet of 700 vehicles, ranging from cars, vans, trucks minibuses, as well as a dedicated motorhome division. Abacus employs a team of 60 people within the Andover and Ferndown hire centres and its sister company Horton Commercials.
