If it is carried, the deputy leader Mark Howell will take over the role. However, if Councillor Howell is unable to do so, then the Cabinet must act in the leader’s place or must arrange for a member of the Cabinet to take the leader’s role, until a decision is made by the Council to appoint a new leader.

Should a vote be carried, the earliest an Extraordinary Council Meeting could take place would be Thursday 18 June.
