Motorbike rider hospitalised after collision in Weymouth
A Weymouth man in his 60s has sustained serious injuries following a crash; police are appealing for witnesses to the collision.
A motorbike rider was taken to hospital on Monday night following a crash involving a BMW in Weymouth.
Dorset Police received a report at 8.28pm on Monday 23 September 2024 of a collision involving a grey BMW 3 series and a silver Honda motorcycle in Lynch Road.
The bike rider was a local man aged in his 60s. He sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment and his next of kin has been informed. The driver of the BMW was uninjured.
Emergency services put road closures put in place to deal with the incident. The road was reopened at around 12.40am on Tuesday morning.
Officers investigating the collision are now appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage of the incident to get in touch.
Police Sergeant Mike Gatfield, of the traffic unit, said: “I am appealing to anyone who saw the collision, or moments leading up to it, to please contact Dorset Police.
“I am keen to hear from anyone who may have captured the incident on either dashcam or home CCTV footage.
“Finally, I would like to thank residents and motorists for their patience while the road was closed. This allowed emergency services to treat the injured man and carry out a scene examination.”
