Abacus, the Ferndown and Andover based Motorhome hire specialists, have seen a 15% increase in booking enquiries since the hot temperatures.
Dave Wolfenden, Managing Director of Abacus, who launched the motorhome division in 2006, says that after a cold dismal spring, which saw booking levels lower than all previous years, they are now on the up.
“The future is now much brighter than just a month ago,” said Dave. “We knew that there was pent up demand but it is always difficult to gauge the market with any accuracy. Many of our new vehicles, part of a £300,000 order, are equipped with air conditioning and very popular at this time.”
To help customers with their travel plans, hirers will receive a special pack offering instant temporary membership to the Camping and Caravanning Club so that they can take advantage of discounted rates at appropriate camping sites.
“We hope that this will appeal to walkers and hikers, dog owners and families looking to enjoy a different type of holiday. We have also chosen our new vehicles so that younger drivers, who do not have a category C1 or equivalent on their licence, will be legally able to take the holiday road.”
Up to 15% of hires will be taking part in the company’s Try before Buy scheme which has proved successful in previous years.
