On Monday 9 December, Robert Walter MP (North Dorset) will visit two Royal Mail delivery offices in his constituency to see how postmen and women in North Dorset get Christmas sorted.
Bob will take a tour of Shaftesbury and Blandford’s delivery offices next week to see how Royal Mail staff deal with the mountains of festival mail in the run up to Christmas.
There he’ll be met by Adam Smart and Craig Quine, Delivery Office Managers for Shaftesbury and Blandford Forum, and have the opportunity to meet and thank some of the hundreds of postmen and women who are responsible for ensuring our Christmas cards and gifts are delivered to approximately 29 million address across the UK at Royal Mail’s busiest time of the year.
Before the visits Bob said:
“Our postmen and women in North Dorset play an important and often overlooked role in ensuring that our seasonal celebrations run smoothly. That’s why I and my fellow MPs like to take the time to visit our local sorting offices each year in December to say ‘Thank you’ on behalf of our constituents and wish them all a very happy Christmas.
“It is a hard task to sort out and deliver the huge volume of cards and packages sent during the Christmas period and every year I am amazed by the dedication of staff to make sure the job gets done well and on time”.
