MUGA relocation as Heatherlands Centre in Ferndown is refurbished
Following a series of community engagement events about the refurbishment of the Heatherlands Centre in Ferndown, it was suggested that the Multi Use Games Area (MUGA) at the centre should be relocated.
The MUGA (Multi-use Games Area) at Heatherlands Centre is to be relocated to an alternative site at nearby Dugdell Close, following a series of community engagement events about the refurbishment of the Heatherlands Centre in Ferndown.
The alternative site was secured by the town council with support from Cllrs Steve and Cathy Lugg and Cllr Julie Robinson.
Cllr Steve Lugg said, “Residents spoke and we listened. This work between East Dorset District Council and Ferndown Town Council is a great example of how local government can work in partnership to achieve the maximum benefit for the community.”
Cllr Andy Skeats, East Dorset District Council’s portfolio holder for community commented, “This is a great outcome for our community and a direct result of listening what our residents want. We look forward to seeing the play area being enjoyed at the Dugdell Close location.”
The refurbishment works to the Heathlands Centre are due to start this month. When completed in 2018, the centre will operate as a multi-use community hub offering a wide range of facilities delivered by East Dorset District Council, the NHS and Dorset County Council. The new centre will be managed by the Hopscotch pre-school team but will operate separately from the pre-school.
The extension of the Dugdell Close play area is likely to begin in January 2018.
