Detectives investigating the death of a man in Bournemouth have charged Vladislav Pomozov, aged 45, with murder. He also faces a charge of attempted murder.
Police were called to an address in Cleveland Road in the early hours of 1 January and discovered a 25-year-old man with serious injuries. He sadly died at the scene.
A murder investigation was subsequently launched by Dorset Police’s Major Crime Investigation Team (MCIT).
The man was officially identified yesterday and has been named by detectives as Andrejs Trofimovics.
A post mortem examination found that Mr Trofimovics, who lived in Bournemouth and was originally from Latvia, had died from a single stab wound. His family, who also live in the town, are being supported by specially-trained police family liaison officers.
A second man – aged 46 and from Bournemouth – sustained serious injuries in the incident and was taken to hospital for treatment. His condition is not life-threatening.
Vladislav Pomozov will appear before Bournemouth Magistrates’ Court today, (4 January).
Senior investigating officer Detective Inspector Mark Samuel, of Dorset Police’s MCIT, said: “Following a fast-moving and thorough investigation, we have consulted with the Crown Prosecution Service who authorised the charge of murder and attempted murder.
“Family liaison officers have updated Mr Trofimovics’ family with this development and our thoughts are with them at this difficult time.
“Detectives will continue to obtain the facts in this investigation and I would appeal to anyone who may have seen or heard anything untoward in the Cleveland Road area between 8pm on Thursday 31 December 2015 and around 2.30am on Friday 1 January 2016 to please call Dorset Police on 101.
“I would like to thank the public for their support and co-operation during the initial stages of our investigation.
“It is also important to stress – as is typical in such circumstances – that it would be entirely inappropriate for Dorset Police to comment further ahead of the trial. It is vital that the justice system is allowed to follow its course.”
