Music festival first for Highcliffe
A new 70s-themed music festival is set to debut in Highcliffe this September.
Lovers of all things from the 1970s will find plenty to enjoy at a new festival set to take place in Highcliffe on Saturday 9 September.
Clifftop Music Festival is a groovy 70s-themed festival which will be hosted on the green adjoining the cliff-top car park, near the Cliffhanger. It will be open from 11am until 7pm and is free to enter.
The festival headliners will be 70s funk and disco group, Heatwave, known for their chart-topping hits ‘Always & Forever’, ‘Boogie Nights’ & ‘Happiness Togetherness’. Also on the main stage line-up are local acts such as We Are Robot, Sound of Soul Bournemouth, and Lou Taylor’s Soul Train. There will also be a performance from the Wessex Majorettes and DJ Mc’s Retro Grooves will be spinning the wax from the Boogie Bus.
Mandy Polkey, chair or organisers Highcliffe Action Team (HAT) and founder of Stir Events said: “Clifftop Music Festival will be host to lively music, fairground rides, and lots of classic festival activities, plus stalls with food and refreshments all held in a simply stunning location.
“There will also be a 60s and 70s classic and vintage car display as well as the local shops and businesses that will also be exhibiting and selling at the event, so there will be plenty to do, see and buy.
“The HAT team will all be there sporting their finest 70s attire. If you fancy joining, it’s time to put on your dancing shoes (ideally, platforms), dig out your flares, tie-dye shirts and funky accessories to match the retro theme and get your groove well and truly on!”
Event sponsors are The Paddle Cafe, Capstan Security, Highcliffe Coach Holidays, Warrior Agency, Pulford Publicity, the Cliffhanger Restaurant, Stir Events, SP Safety Consultancy and C9 Creative, as well as Highcliffe Rotary who are offering volunteer support.
Mandy said: “Thank you to all of our sponsors and supporters; we at HAT are very excited for the festival which has been in the pipeline for five years. It’s sure to be one of Highcliffe’s events of the year.”
