Coda Music Trust is looking for Hampshire or Dorset based musicians, who enjoy the challenge of improvisation, to participate in ‘Songs For Wild Horses.’
Coda is offering a fantastic opportunity to work with world-class musicians on a new creative collaboration. The project aims to create a new piece of music which will have its world premiere in the New Forest in October this year.
Coda Music Trust and Hampshire based project, New Dimensions (Turner Sims and Anvil Arts) are working closely with Norwegian musicians Nils Okland (Hardanger fiddle) and Oyvind Skarbo (percussion) – both internationally renowned in the field of improvisation.
Coda is looking for musicians of all instruments and genres – from experimental to folk, kit players, string players, electronics, singers and wind players – to work as an ensemble with both musicians to create a new piece under the title ‘Songs For Wild Horses’.
Nils and Oyvind are coming to the UK for initial rehearsals on Saturday 13 June, 10.30am –4.30pm at Coda Music Centre, BH23 5QL. Participants will have the chance to work with them over the course of the day and will enjoy a fabulous free lunch at Coda.
The aim is that an ensemble will meet over the summer before Nils and Oyvind return to the UK for a weekend of workshops and pop up performances on 5/6 September.
Final rehearsals will be on Saturday 3 October prior to a premiere performance at the atmospheric Treehouses in Beaulieu on Sunday 4 October.
