A cheque for £1,000 has been presented by Ferndown Neighbourcare to the local animal charity Waggy Tails Rescue. Ferndown Neighbourcare (NeighbourCars) was set up in 2008 with initial funding from the Partnership for Older People’s Projects (POPPS). It has also received financial support from Ferndown Town Council, Age UK,and Ferndown Neighbourhood Watch. It is now fully self funding.
The scheme uses volunteer drivers to provide transport for over 55s to hospital, doctors, dentist, shopping, social visits.
Due to the generosity of the Neighbourcare clients, donations have been made to several local charities and groups. The most recent being to Waggy Tails.
New volunteer drivers are always needed by Neighbourcare to satisfy the increasing demand for this local service. If you have a car and a few spare hours why not join the volunteer drivers. A mileage allowance is paid for all miles travelled.
