Poole’s beaches will soon benefit from a range of brand new beach huts to help reduce the waiting list and extend the range of huts available.
The huts, which will cost £1.35m to build, will be at three locations: Branksome Chine (East), Branksome Chine (West) and Flaghead Chine.
In total 88 new beach huts will be built in the new year, including ‘super-sized’ huts that are 33% bigger than standard huts.
New access ramps will be built from the promenade to the new huts along with a brand new disbaled toilet.
Building work will begin week commencing 12 January 2015 and the new beach huts are planned to be ready for tenants to enjoy in July 2015.
Cllr Xena Dion, Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Open Spaces and Beaches, Borough of Poole said: “It’s an exciting and long-awaited building project for Poole beaches as we can start to reduce the waiting lists for our very popular beach huts. Its a cost effective way to invest in the beach, provide local people and visitors with what they have asked for and generate further money that is needed to improve the infrastructure and facilities along the seafront.”
Poole based contractors Morgan Sindall have been appointed to build the beach huts which have been designed by Bournemouth architects Davison Mondon Associates.
