A new dirt jump project has now been opened for BMX bikers at Ford Lane Recreation Ground, Ferndown.
This new development sees tracks suitable for all ages and abilities. Ferndown Town Council, working in partnership with East Dorset District Council’s Countryside Management Service, have implemented the project and have continued to enlist the help of the community to help design and develop the area for optimum results.
Users are allowed to create their own jumps and improve those that are already there as they wish.
Jade North, Senior Area Warden for the Urban Heaths Partnership, said: “For a long time it has been recognised that Ferndown needs an area designed for cyclists. Dirt jumping has become a popular sport and encourages health, fitness and development of new skills. In this region many people of all ages have started to develop an interest and the facilities have not existed until now”.
Anyone interested in keeping up to date with developments can follow progress on the Facebook page ‘Ferndown Dirt Jumps’.

This is a tragic story. The earth that the locals were left to build jumps with is un workable, its rubbly and stony. Kids with shovels will not be able to build anything and this place will rot. Silly council, just showing that they have good intentions but no idea what they are doing..
Its now over grown and not used for this reason, how right you were jack
