New bin collection to start for Fordingbridge and Ringwood
New Forest District Council is reminding households that the second phase of its new waste collection and recycling service will begin this month.
The second phase of New Forest District Council’s new waste and recycling collection service will begin on 20 October 2025, and the council is writing to affected households to let them know the change is happening soon.
Households in the Phase 2 area, which includes Bransgore, Fordingbridge, and Ringwood, will begin to receive letters this week about the rollout. Each letter is tailored to the property, confirming their new collections days and the date of their first collection under the new service.
The letters will also include reminder about whether the household will use wheelie bins, communal bins or sacks for their new waste collections.
Cllr Geoffrey Blunden, portfolio holder for Environment and Sustainability, said: “As we prepare to begin Phase 2, I’m looking forward to us continuing to build a more efficient and environmentally responsible way of managing waste and recycling across the district.
“Phase 1 has shown us what progress is possible. Residents have helped us collect an average of 48 tonnes of food waste each week, and we’ve seen real improvements in street cleanliness and recycling participation. These successes speak volumes about our community’s commitment to reducing waste and protecting the environment.
“This is one of the most complex operational challenges we have undertaken as a council, and we’ve listened carefully to feedback from Phase 1. Ahead of Phase 2, we have employed additional staffing, revised collection guidance for pannage areas, and updated route assessment and planning.”
