I look forward to attending as many civic and ceremonial functions to enhance the council’s profile and promote its initiatives and business opportunities,” said Cllr David Shortell following his election as the new chairman for East Dorset District Council.
Born and brought up in Dorchester, he and his wife Elizabeth have lived in West Moors since 1993 and have two children.

His charity objectives for the year are to help support the Multiple Sclerosis Society for Bournemouth & District in their quest to re-organise their transport issues and to continue the assistance given by East Dorset District Council’s chairman over the last year to the John Thornton Young Achiever’s Foundation in the further support of ‘Ferndown Upper School Centre of Excellence and Industrial Liaison’.
