New electric chargers installed in Bournemouth and Poole
The first 16 of 130 new charge points have been installed in car parks in Poole, Bournemouth and Boscombe.
Sixteen new electric vehicle charging points have been installed in car parks across Bournemouth and Poole.
They are at Lake Pier car park, Rockley, Serpentine Lane car park, Poole, Glen Fern, West Hill and Richmond Hill surface car parks in Bournemouth and Overstrand car park, Boscombe.
These fast EVCPs are the first of 130 new charge points due to be installed over the coming year, which will be a mix of fast and rapid chargers. These are in addition to BCP Council’s 12 existing rapid chargers, which were recently upgraded.
Joju Charging is installing and maintaining the new EVCP’s which are funded and operated by their partner, Mer Charging UK.
Cllr Mike Greene, BCP Council’s portfolio holder for sustainability and transport said: “Every new EV charging point that becomes available in our conurbation makes it easier for people to make the switch to electric vehicles. Many drivers would like to make this switch away from conventional petrol or diesel-powered vehicles and we hope that by rolling out this new charging infrastructure, it will encourage these drivers to invest in an EV.”
As well as these BCP Council provided chargers there are a growing number of private sector providers making EV chargers available across the area, such as in supermarket car parks and petrol stations.
