The New Forest Seasonal Snaps photo competition returns today, giving the chance to win prizes for springtime photos.
The online contest, run by the New Forest National Park Authority, highlights the natural beauty of the Forest and aims to encourage people to care for the area. It looks to build on the success of last autumn’s competition, which attracted over 7,500 votes across 350 photos.
Entries can be submitted on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram from 27 April to 11 May and anyone can take part, whether you are an expert photographer or an enthusiastic amateur. Entrants must be 18 or over to enter.
Photos should capture spring in the Forest, perhaps spring flowers bursting into bloom, foals frolicking on Forest lawns, or you and your family enjoying the brighter days.
Three winners will be chosen by a public vote, which will be open throughout the competition on the National Park Authority’s Facebook page, and an additional judges’ pick will be chosen by a judging panel. The results will be announced on 12 May and the four chosen entries will win one of several exciting prizes, kindly donated by local businesses:
- an overnight stay at Careys Manor with breakfast and dinner at their New Forest-inspired restaurant Cambium
- a family ticket for the New Forest Tour
- afternoon tea for two at New Park Manor near Brockenhurst
- New Forest book prize from the New Forest Centre.
Barry Rickman, New Forest National Park Authority member, said: “As the days get longer and the weather kinder, spring is a wonderful time to get out in the New Forest with your camera. This competition aims to use social media to encourage people of all ages to join us in celebrating the New Forest in spring, hopefully inspiring others to care for the area.
“I wish all the entrants the best of luck and I hope they enjoy photographing the unique landscape of the National Park.”
Entering the competition takes only a couple of minutes and the process is very simple. Post a new picture on Instagram or Twitter with #springsnaps16, or upload your snap at www.facebook.com/newforestnpa then visit the Authority’s Facebook page to view all the photos and get your friends to vote for your entries.
