Diverse Abilities and Merlin’s Magic Wand have teamed up to create a bespoke Sea Life themed accessible bathroom for the children’s respite home in Poole, as part of its Lilypad Appeal. This is the 21st Merlin’s Magic Wand project to be completed to date.
Merlin’s Magic Wand supports seriously ill, disabled and disadvantaged children by providing days out to Merlin attractions. Some children are faced with conditions and circumstances that prevent them from making the trip. This is why the company creates Merlin’s Magic Spaces projects bringing the unique magic of Merlin to them.
In support of Diverse Abilities’ Lilypad Appeal Merlin’s Magic Wand created a bespoke Merlin’s Magic Space for the home, transforming the bathroom into an immersive magical themed space that transports the children from their everyday life to a new and exciting place.
Vikki Slade, capital appeals manager at Diverse Abilities, said: “Having a theme to the bathroom means that it is not only a practical space but a space of discovery and distraction. For some of the children the respite home is the only place a child can have a bath as the specialist equipment is expensive and large so to fit out a family home would be almost impossible. The addition of the ‘bubbles’ has transformed the bath from a functional item to a fun and sensory experience. Thank you Merlin’s Magic Wand for this very special new sensory bathroom.”
The Diverse Abilities Lilypad Appeal will improve the facilities at the children’s respite home to meet the changing and increasing needs of children and young people with disabilities, and the new bathroom will help them achieve their goal.
Merlin’s Magic Wand said: “A huge thanks to everyone whose donations have made it possible for us to complete this wonderful new project in Poole. A special thank you to Pullinger signs, Tufts flooring, Pacific Wave and Swift signs who helped bring this project to life.”
