New skate ramp opens in Ringwood
After two years of work and fundraising, a new skate ramp has opened in North Poulner Play Area.

Ringwood skaters have a new place to practice their stunts and tricks, as a new skate ramp has finally opened at North Poulner Play Area.
The ramp was officially opened on Thursday 29 May by Ringwood Town Mayor, Cllr Rae Frederick.
The first skate on the new ramp was carried out by Fin McCall, a local young person who first proposed the idea to Ringwood Town Council and played a significant role in fundraising efforts.
McCall also approached local volunteer organisation Ringwood & District Round Table with the idea, whose member Tim Iles helped bring the project to life by winning grant funding from New Forest District Council and Round Table Great Britain and Ireland, raising over £10,000 for the project.
This was added to funds donated by Ringwood & District Round Table, Ringwood Town Council, Donaldson Ross & Co, Ringwood Carnival, Cllr Philip Day, Rotary Club of Ringwood, and public contributions.
Cllr Frederick said: “It’s wonderful to see this project completed, and even more special to see young people like Fin leading the way. This new ramp is a great addition to the North Poulner Play Area and a real example of what can be achieved when the community comes together. I’d like to thank everyone involved, especially our funders and supporters.”
Members of Ringwood & District Round Table also attended the opening. A spokesperson for the group said: “After two years of hard work, we’re so proud to be able to help to deliver this fantastic asset to the community, and to be joined by Ringwood Riders, professional skaters and scooters and members of the public to give it a good test run.”
Following the opening, local group Ringwood Riders treated attendees to an exciting demonstration, showcasing the ramp’s potential and the talent within the community.
The ramp itself was built locally by Ringwood-based firm New Forest Metalwork.
