New Swanage ATM to help residents and businesses deposit cash
Bank branches continue to close across the country, but a new deposit machine in Swanage aims to provide needed cash services to residents.
Sadly, bank branches across the country are continuing to close at a fast rate, making it harder for everyday people to access much needed face-to-face banking services.
Fortunately, residents of Swanage can now have some of their banking needs served by a new multi-bank deposit machine, which will allow customers to deposit cash as well as withdraw it.
The new deposit machine is situated outside the Co-op Food on Kings Road. It has been installed by Cash Access UK, a non-profit organisation set up to protect nationwide access to cash, as part of a trial to improve deposit services. The aim of the machine
As well as withdrawals, balance enquiries and PIN managements, the new ATM offers free cash deposits to customers of Barclays, Bank of Scotland, Halifax, Lloyds, NatWest, Royal Bank of Scotland and Ulster Bank with more banks to be added soon.
The aim of the deposit machine is to provide a quick and easy way for customers and small businesses to pay cash into their accounts. It should also help customers who need to make deposits outside of regular banking hours.
Swanage is part of the first stage of the rollout of these ATMs. The new machines are also launching in Atherstone in Warwickshire and Heathfield in East Sussex, with more to come across the country.
Gareth Oakley, CEO at Cash Access UK, said: “Access to deposit-taking ATMs is vital for cash reliant UK consumers struggling to access basic banking services and it’s just as important that businesses who accept cash can bank it too.
“We’re pleased to be able to bring this service to residents and local businesses in Swanage.”
