New trustees for Lewis-Manning Hospice Care
Lewis-Manning Hospice Care has appointed two new trustees to its board following a recruitment drive.
Lewis-Manning Hospice Care has appointed two new trustees to its board, Dr Jackie Dominey and Emma Starmer, having recruited with the specific aim of bringing additional expertise in clinical, medical and HR into the charity.
Clare Gallie, chief executive, said: “Lewis-Manning Hospice Care is overjoyed to bring these two wonderful women on to its board. They both come with so much knowledge and their incredible skillset will help guide the charity into the future, so that we can help even more people and continue providing extraordinary care in the community.”
Jackie spent 26 years as a GP practice partner in Birmingham, and was a GP trainer from 1996 until 2018. From 2004 until 2018, she was a hospice speciality doctor, which included teaching medical students and CMT doctors at Marie Curie Hospice West Midlands. Jackie also worked for two years at John Taylor Hospice in Erdington and as a Macmillan GP advisor and GP clinical lead.
Having moved to Dorset, Jackie became a salaried GP in Bournemouth and completed an eight-month limited contract post at Weldmar Hospice in Dorchester, working on the inpatient unit and teaching GP trainees who spent three months on the unit.
Jackie said: “Getting involved as a volunteer trustee at Lewis-Manning Hospice Care is an opportunity to use my time, skills, energy and passion to make a real positive difference to peoples’ lives. I think that the work the hospice does is fantastic and vital.”
Emma has worked at Bournemouth solicitors, Lester Aldridge for over 25 years in a variety of HR and managerial roles, including holding the position of head of HR for a number of years. Her experience includes employee relations, policy preparation and implementation, preparing employment contracts and handbooks for clients, settlement agreement work and providing HR-related training.
Emma said: “I am so impressed with the important work that Lewis-Manning, the board of trustees, staff and volunteers have achieved for local people at the end of life across east Dorset and Purbeck and I am looking forward to being involved in the great plans for the future of this amazing charity.”
