Bournemouth’s young people can find out about events, activities, job and training opportunities on a brand new website specifically designed for them.
www.b-townyouth.co.uk, created by Bournemouth Borough Council, also offers a creative outlet for young people to submit self-created music, videos and photography, and provides information on where to find support on issues such as bullying, bereavement, housing and domestic violence.
The many and varied activities open to young people in the Bournemouth area are featured on an interactive calendar and map allowing site visitors to find local events that meet their specific needs whether it’s learning a musical instrument, getting help with various youth specific issues or just finding somewhere to relax with existing and new friends.
Councillor Nicola Greene, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Education and Children’s Services, said: “The new website provides a useful forum for young people to have their say on a range of issues. Young people are the future of the town and so it is vital that we support them to get their voice heard, influence what happens in Bournemouth and make it an even better place.
Cllr Greene added: “I’m delighted that we have been able to launch this site and hope that it will become a popular place for young people looking for advice and support, and for those wanting to find out about things to do and how to get involved in activities within the borough.”
