A prize worth £350 has been scooped by Wetherspoon’s The Nightjar in Ferndown following its entry in Ferndown in Bloom 2013.
The pub won the title Best Business, Retail, Commercial or Public House, a class sponsored by mags4dorset who put up the prize of a business profile in 4Dorset Magazine.
On presenting the award, Ben Pulford director of mags4dorset said, “We are very pleased that our local magazine is able to support Ferndown business in this way by sponsoring categories in Ferndown in Bloom.”
Delighted manager Selina Parker said, “We came second last year, but I was determined to win this year. I chose the flowers and they’re maintained regularly. We have just replanted with autumn varieties.”
The Nightjar certainly goes the extra mile by festooning its flowers in hanging baskets, a window trough and along the roof of the pub offering a pretty vista throughout the year.
Cllr Jean Read, chairman of Ferndown in Bloom congratulated Selina on the pub’s achievement.
