This year saw Oakmeadians Rugby Club celebrate 50 years in the community as Dorset’s first RFU accredited family-friendly rugby club and they started this season, by launching their brand new website, www.oakmeadians-rfc.com They followed this with wins from both the senior men’s team and the senior ladies team.
With over 800 members across all age groups the website really had to step up, and features the senior, mini, midi and youth teams, general club news, pitch layouts, a thriving 200 club and the club’s own RFU approved Little Bears for the under 5s, plus much more
New found success on the pitch is directly attributable to the club’s new head coach, Andy Barrett (Twiz).
“I joined Oakmeadians RFC in 1983 and turned to coaching in 2001 having played senior rugby and eventually veterans for the club, I am very proud to have been honoured with life membership some years ago. Player development is key to the club’s plans and this season I am focusing on all the senior men’s teams and ensuring they progress together as a squad concentrating on their core skills and developing strong relationships with each other and also with Bournemouth University and our own youth sides.”
