Diverse Abilities, Dorset’s disability charity, recently held its famous Dragon Boat Race in Poole Park, sponsored by Spectrum Housing Group, and raised over £13,000 which will help enable the charity to continuing providing vital support to children and adults with disabilities across the county.
All of the 11 teams went head to head in boats decorated with dragon figureheads to win the first place prize. Everyone that took part had a great time and the spectators had fun cheering on the teams, while enjoying the sunshine during the day.
Sharon Wells, events fundraiser at Diverse Abilities, said: “The Dragon Boat Race is a very lively and fun event. It was great to see many local people and businesses getting involved and taking part in this team event and raising over £13,000 for Diverse Abilities. We are already looking forward to next year’s event.”
Spectrum participated in the Dragon Boat Race as well as sponsoring it. Tina Partridge from Spectrum said: “Everyone that took part in the event had a great time and there was a healthy amount of competition among staff, therefore it was great for team building.”
