Ocean adventures for Wimborne
The new Ocean Safari Trail funded by Wimborne BID will give families the chance to explore the town in a fun and interactive way.

Wimborne isn’t by the sea; however, local children will be able to enjoy a taste of the coast with a new Ocean Safari Trail funded by Wimborne BID.
Blending outdoor exploration with clever technology and unforgettable fun, young explorers are encouraged to embark on a deep-sea discovery around town by hunting for hidden seashell markers along the trail.
There will be beautifully decorated seashells which reveal incredible augmented reality sea creatures and the chance to learn fascinating ocean facts while meeting the underwater residents who leap into view with clever tech. Watch as magnificent creatures like sea otters and jellyfish come to life right before your eyes, ready for selfies and videos.
The Ocean Safari is split into two unique mini-trails. ‘The Sunlit Reef’ route introduces you to the colourful characters of the shallow waters, while ‘The Deep Blue Mysteries’ route plunges you into the strange and wonderful world of the deep sea.
To take part, simply scan the QR code at any of the 10 stops around town or visit https://highstreetsafari.com/oceansafari#Wimborne on your smart device.
This free event is designed to encourage holidaying and local families to explore Wimborne in a fun and interactive way. Once you’ve met all 10 creatures, you can download a free e-book and claim your printed prize pack filled with marine-themed activities, facts and games to keep the ocean vibes flowing.
“We’re so excited to bring the Ocean Safari to Wimborne” says Wimborne BID manager Tammy Sleet, “It’s a wonderful opportunity for families to create lasting memories while discovering the wondrous world of ocean life through the magic of augmented reality and getting to know the delights of Wimborne along the way.
“This is the fifth year Wimborne BID has funded an augmented reality trail, and it always proves hugely popular. We believe it’s important to offer free activities in the town both for local families and holidaymakers. Summer holidays can be an expensive time.”
Each of the two routes takes approximately 45 minutes to complete, but you can spread the fun across multiple visits.
It’s completely free, with no downloads or sign-ups required to play on the website.
The trail runs from 17 July to 7 September. For more information and to play online, please visit https://highstreetsafari.com/oceansafari#Wimborne.
