Older people invited to Christchurch event
ElderFest will take place at Twynham Secondary School, Sopers Lane, on Monday 27 October and entry is free.
A new festival for older people is taking place at the end of this month.
ElderFest, which is organised by Christchurch Community Partnership and BCP Council’s Age Friendly Network, will take place on Monday 27 October from 10am to 3pm at Twynham Secondary School, Sopers Lane, Christchurch, BH23 1JF. Entry is free, and everyone is welcome.
Sandra Prudom, CEO of Christchurch Community Partnership, said: “We’re thrilled to be launching ElderFest. It’s a celebration of ageing well and an opportunity for older adults, their families, and professionals to discover the incredible resources available in our community to enable them to live their best lives for longer.”
This one-day festival will bring together almost 30 local organisations offering a wide range of services and activities tailored to support older people. From health and wellbeing resources to social groups and lifestyle opportunities, ElderFest aims to highlight the wealth of support available right on our doorstep.
Attendees can look forward to: free health checks; wellbeing talks; refreshments and opportunities to connect with community groups and services.
Cllr Sandra Moore, BCP Council Cabinet member for Communities and Partnerships, said: “The work that is happening across BCP to ensure our older residents enjoy a good quality of life is inspirational, and we are proud to be recognised by the World Health Organisation as an Age Friendly Community.
“This wonderful festival brings all the support, activities, and community groups together as the finale of a series of activities and awareness events that have happened to celebrate International Day of Older People 2025, and we have proudly embraced this year’s theme, building belonging: celebrating the power of our social connections.”
