Packed house for Jazz at the Allendale
The popular event organised by Wimborne Rotary with music by Swing Unlimited Big Band raised over £1,400.
The Jazz at the Allendale event, organised by Wimborne Rotary, saw a full capacity audience enjoy a wide-ranging programme of music and vocals provided by Swing Unlimited Big Band.
There was no doubting the warm response of the audience, who generously contributed to a retiring collection, which raised over £1,400. After deduction of expenses this will go to support Youth Music Wessex and Rotary charities.
Rotarian Darryl Reach, who has organised the concert for the past 10 years, said: “Once again the people of Wimborne have shown how much they appreciate this annual concert and over the years their donations have enabled us to support local charities to the tune of some £15,000.
“Swing Unlimited Big Band presented a selection of music ranging from traditional classics to a modern composition based on the theme tune to the TV series Frasier and without their commitment and professionalism we could not have attracted the large audience which we did.”
Jazz at the Allendale will return next year and provisionally the date is Monday 13 February.
