Party time at Verwood pre-school
Hillside Pre-school and Early Learning Group was established in 1990 by the late Mrs Ruth Bussey, chairperson of Governors for the First School.

It was party time at Hillside Pre-school and Early Learning Group in Verwood to mark its 35th anniversary.
The children were entertained by Mr Pop’s Balloons and Nikki’s Dance Parties, and parents and past staff enjoyed Pimms and cake.
It was 35 five years ago when the late Mrs Ruth Bussey, chairperson of Governors for Hillside First School, had a vision of a playgroup where children could learn through play. Supported by headteacher Miss Judy Skipp and using an old mobile classroom, Hillside Playgroup was born and quickly became a success.
In 2009, Hillside Pre-school and Early Learning Group (as it is now known) moved into a new modular building. The pre-school goes from strength to strength, still promoting Ruth’s vision of learning through play.
The group has been led by Elaine Ford (manager) for over 30 years, and she is supported by Melanie Pitcher (deputy manager) and the staff team.
