Fundraising during his year in office as Chairman of East Dorset District Council, Cllr Robin Cook raised a total of £5847.
£5200 of this has gone to his chosen charities, the Alzheimer’s Society and Friends of Victoria Hospital, Wimborne.
He has now presented each of the charities with a cheque for £2600. In addition £647 was donated to the Bournemouth University Dementia Institute as a contribution to their Dementia Orchestra project.
Cllr Cook said: “I am pleased that I was able to raise this money to help these great causes, and also wanted to recognise the help that Bournemouth University gave us towards raising this total. A big thank you also to all who supported the fundraising events.”
